As Legal Counsel you will advise on a broad spectrum of legal issues, including Dutch law. You will be expected to remain flexible and have the desire to continually learn about relevant fields including payments, contracts, product development and other general legal matters such as litigation, IP law and outsourcing. You will draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements with our merchants and partners across the globe. You have a keen eye for improvements wherever you go and are able to advise on both new contract structures and existing contract architecture.
What you'll do
- Provide (predominantly Dutch law) legal advice in respect of broad spectrum of legal matters related to our business, including liability, disputes, litigation, competition and IP rights
- Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts with customers, partners and suppliers across the globe, in partnership with your colleagues in other offices
- Advise business and operational teams on legal issues related to structuring new products and services
- Design smart legal solutions, policy and playbook to assist the scalability of the legal function
- Provide day-to-day advice, dealing with legal issues that arise in the course of our commercial operations
- Anticipate and spot the key risks - from a practical, legal, compliance, regulatory and data protection perspective - and ensure these are addressed in cooperation with your colleagues
Who you are
- You can demonstrate deep knowledge in at least some of the following subjects: contract law, litigation, financial law, payments, technology law, litigation
- You are Dutch law qualified (completed advocaat-stage) and have experience working in an international environment (either at a law firm or in-house)
- You are able to identify and design solutions to optimize the legal function's impact across the organization
- You enjoy designing and building new and smarter ways of getting things done
- You are able to quickly understand complexities and translate business requirements into legal contracts
- You can demonstrate professional contract drafting and negotiation skills
- You have excellent English written and verbal communication ability
- You are able to work pragmatically, both on your own and in a team, and like to get things done
- You have excellent communication skills, and enjoy forging new relationships, allowing you to easily work with everyone within Adyen
- You have a broad legal interest and can easily switch between subject matter
