The Nokia Cloud Mobile Gateway (CMG) goes beyond network virtualization with an optimized cloud-native software design that supports the evolution of advanced 4G, IoT/MTC and 5G services. It delivers the high performance and subscriber scalability to address the growth in users, devices and applications, and the associated demands for high bandwidth and lower latency. The CMG supports multiaccess connectivity by converging multiple mobile gateway functions onto a single, general-purpose computing platform while offering multiple configuration options that provide deployment flexibility.
What you will learn and contribute to
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Software Test team located in Athens Technology Center and work together with very talented engineers, in a technically challenging and stimulating environment. As a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer you will help us in designing and developing one of the most successful products in Core Networks by ensuring that our software can do what we promise.
As a member of our team you will be responsible to:
- Develop in-depth understanding of gateway features and networking protocols, using study materials, training courses and in-person mentoring.
- Derive test plan requirements from product requirements, customer and standards documents.
- Review test plans, test procedures and infrastructure for adequacy and completeness/correctness
- Code and automate test cases using the automation environment (TCL or Python) to enhance coverage and have them integrated in the regression infrastructure
- Debug and fix issues in automated test cases for a feature, and find ways to optimize runtime by re-architecting test suites
- Analyze results of tests and interact with functional test engineers, development engineers and Product Managers in the resolution of test failures
- Be creative and identify new valid test cases unearthing any unexposed critical bugs.
- Help integrate features into system test beds
- Follow all Nokia Information Security policies and guidelines including ISMS (ISO27001 program)
Your skills and experience
You have:
- BSc or MSc in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent degree
- Preferably 5+ years of industry experience
- Exposure to software programming preferably with scripting languages (e.g. Python, TCL, Bash etc.)
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, L2 protocols, L3/Routing protocols) and an aptitude to expand networking knowledge
- Exposure to telecom standards and technologies (3GPP, 4G/5G, radio or packet core, Wi-Fi, LTE)
- Proven aptitude for methodical problem troubleshooting and solving, good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a close-knit team
- Ability to work independently having strong sense of ownership and responsibility and eager to learn state-of-the-art technologies quickly
- Willingness to contribute to high edge technology and be innovative
- Fluency in English spoken and written
- Free of military service obligations (applicable for male candidates)
It would be nice if you also had:
- Exposure to protocols like HTTP2, GTP, Radius, Diameter
- Exposure to technologies like 5G, Kubernetes, public/private cloud, CI-CD, REST APIs testing
- Exposure to UNIX/Linux
- Knowledge on Source code management tools like Git
- ISTQB certification
